Goldfarb School of Nursing names two associate deans

September 8, 2008, ST. LOUIS - The Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College appointed Thomas Edler and Michael Ward, PhD, as associate deans for administration and student programs, respectively.
 
Thomas Edler became associate dean for administration after spending 10 years as business affairs director for the former Barnes-Jewish College of Nursing. He was responsible for financial activities of the college, including planning the annual operating and capital equipment budgets, as well as managing its grants, endowments and student accounts.
 
Over the past 20 years, Edler has held numerous administrative positions across Jewish Hospital and Barnes-Jewish Hospital, as business manager for radiation oncology, cardiac care and several medicine divisions.
Edler holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Saint Louis University and a master of business administration from Fontbonne University.
 
As associate dean, Edler will oversee the business offices, financial aid and general operations for the Goldfarb School of Nursing.
 
Michael Ward, PhD, RT, FASRT, joins the Goldfarb School of Nursing as associate dean for student programs after serving as assistant dean for administrative and student affairs at Saint Louis University's Doisy College of Health Sciences. Previously, he has held several faculty and leadership positions at Barnes-Jewish College of Nursing and University of Missouri-St. Louis. In addition, Ward spent more than 20 years as a radiology professional at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine.
 
Ward holds a bachelor's degree in radiological sciences and a minor in education from Saint Louis University, and a master's degree in educational administration from University of Missouri-St. Louis. He also obtained a PhD in education administration from Saint Louis University.
 
As associate dean, Ward will be responsible for student services, admissions, library services and registration.
